A B S T R A C T

One application of an expert system in the field of fisheries is that it can be used to diagnose pests and diseases. The research is motivated by the problems of fish farmers, especially farmers of Red Tilapia. The lack of knowledge of farmers about pests and diseases of Red Tilapia result in a lack of crop yields from these fish. Error in handling diseases of Red Tilapia make farmers experience crop failur.

From these problems raises the idea to design and create an expert system that is used to determine the diagnosis of a pest or disease that is known from the main symptoms of Red Tilapia pests or diseases and determine appropriate control advice. The problem of knowledge uncertainty in this expert system is overcome by the Bayes Algorithm method. Designing process models using Flowchart and DFD models, databse design (ERD), designing interface, and relations between tables.

The final result of this research is an expert system for diagnosing pests and diseases in Red Tilapia along with the probability value of the disease diagnosed, which shows the level of confidence in the system on the disease and suggested control.
