A B S T R A C T

The use of IPv6 addressing was created to solve the the increasingly limited number of IPv4 availability. However, transition from using IPv4 addressing to IPv6 simultaneously by replacing the entire device to support the use of IPv6 addressing, it will require a lot of costs. In addition, the implementation of IPv4 transition to IPv6, it requires changes to the infrastructure side starting from hardware and software. Whereas, direct communication with IPv4 and IPv6 addressing cannot be passed in a way.

In the book "CCDA 640-864 Official Cert Guide" published by Cisco, there are several transition methods that can be used to bridge from IPv4 to IPv6, so that IPv4 addressing can run on IPv6 networks, or vice versa. From several methods, the author compared the quality of data transfer resulting from the implementation of dual stack and 6to4 tunneling methods based on the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss. Testing involved the process of downloading files from the FTP server by the client.

Based on the results of testing using the Mikrotik Routerboard device on the local network, it was concluded that the dual stack method had better quality of data transfer when viewed from the overall QoS parameters.
